Ana Suyapa Muñoz and her husband embarked on their coffee journey, planting their first farm plot in 2015. Ana Suyapa Muñoz inherited the plot from her parents who had previously used it for corn cultivation. Their initial venture of 0.7 hectares was met with immediate profits, which the couple reinvested in the plot, doubling their cultivated area after just one season. Shortly after, a portion of their plot was damaged by rust disease. However, Ana and her husband faced this challenge with resiliency and determination, embracing the opportunity to try something new. They decided to cultivate Parainema and IHCAFE 90 varieties. These varieties are well-adapted to medium altitudes, resistant to coffee leaf rust and some nematodes. Ultimately the decision proved to be a fruitful investment.
